Experience 700 years of history at the romantic double moated Castle
Once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, explore the 125 acres and see the changing seasons in the award winning gardens. The splendid rooms contain fine furniture, tapestries, antiques, an important collection of Tudor paintings and two prayer books inscribed and signed by Anne Boleyn herself. The stunning award-winning gardens transformed by William Waldorf Astor include the Italian Garden with its 38 acre lake and the spectacular Loggia with its very own Trevi Fountain. Step back in time in the Tudor Garden or inhale the fragrance of over 4,000 rose bushes in the quintessentially English Rose Garden. In the grounds there is also plenty to entertain including the Water Maze and the 100 year old Yew Maze – how long will it take you to get out?
As well as the historic Castle and stunning grounds Hever boasts an unique collection of 1/12 scale model houses and the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry Museum as well as restaurants offering a selection of mouth-watering food and gift shops with everything you might need to commemorate your day out.
As autumn unfolds, be dazzled by the vibrant tones of acers, whilst the historic Chesnut Avenue will have you feeling fully absorbed by autumn’s beauty. Across the grounds, shades of orange, magenta and yellow hypnotise at every turn.
During half term, treat the children to a spine-tingling programme of entertainment, with prizes for the best Halloween costumes. This year, Christmas is all about the traditional Christmas carol. Walk through the rooms of the castle adorned with beautiful decorations, and follow the Christmas trail to learn about the history of these seasonal songs.
After the festive period, wrap up warm and blow away the cobwebs, walk off the Christmas pudding and enjoy winter walks in the stunning gardens.
